Components of Certification
The board certification process evaluates candidates through a standards-based assessment across four components. The process is designed to provide evidence of expertise and requires approximately 30-hours to complete. Download Candidate Handbook.

Component I.
Component 1 evaluates a candidate's ability to apply Agile leadership principles and practices to realistic scenarios. It assesses situational judgment, ethical decision-making, and the practical application of Agile leadership competencies. This component focuses on how candidates respond to complex challenges involving team dynamics, stakeholder alignment, and organizational agility.
Component II.
Component 2 evaluates a candidate's ability to tackle complex Agile leadership challenges by analyzing problems, designing adaptive strategies, and reflecting on their impact. It emphasizes Agile strategy development, team empowerment, stakeholder alignment, and value delivery through practical application. Candidates must identify a significant Agile leadership challenge, develop and implement a strategy to address it, and evaluate its outcomes. Submissions include a written report detailing the challenge, data analysis, strategy design, implementation, outcomes, and lessons learned. Responses must demonstrate alignment with Agile principles, such as adaptability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Component III.
Component 3 evaluates a candidate's ability to foster collaboration, empower teams, and engage stakeholders effectively in Agile environments. It focuses on resolving conflicts, aligning diverse perspectives, and promoting equity and inclusion within teams and stakeholder interactions, demonstrating leadership in facilitating Agile practices and building trust. Candidates will reflect on two Agile scenarios: one centered on team empowerment and the other on stakeholder engagement. Submissions must include a detailed description of each challenge, the planning and implementation strategies, and the results achieved. Responses must demonstrate the candidate’s ability to foster collaboration, resolve conflicts, and integrate Agile principles into their leadership practices.
Component IV.
The goal of Component 4 is to assess your ability to apply Agile leadership principles in real-world scenarios to address complex challenges. This component focuses on demonstrating your ability to lead with agility, foster collaboration, promote equity and inclusion, engage stakeholders effectively, and deliver measurable value. You will reflect on and provide evidence of how you have operationalized Agile leadership competencies to drive outcomes aligned with Agile principles.
